We're kicking off the new year with an exciting update to Tasty Recipes. Here are 4 big improvements you'll find in the latest Tasty Recipes update.
1. New Converters for Yummly & Cookbook ⚡️
It's one of our goals to convert from nearly every recipe plugin out there. We're marching toward achieving that goal with the addition of converters for Yummly Rick Recipes and Cookbook.
We now convert from EasyRecipe, Ziplist, Meal Planner Pro, WP Ultimate Recipe, WP Recipe Maker, Yumprint Recipe Card, Yummly Rich Recipes, & Cookbook. Whew! Got another? Just let us know and we'll do our best.
2. Removing Microdata ✅
Up until now, we've always included both JSON-LD and microdata for recipe structured data. That's because Google prefers JSON-LD, but the official Pinterest documentation said it only supported microdata. We had evidence that Pinterest supported JSON-LD... but we wanted official word before we made any big changes.
Late last year, we finally got that official word! Here's what Pinterest Support had to say about it:
We've been running Tasty Recipes on Pinch of Yum for the past couple of months with just the JSON-LD structured data just to make sure we didn't run into any issues. We're always testing our new ideas before releasing them to make sure they improve things. Because things have gone so well (no issues at all, in fact!), we're moving forward with removing microdata from Tasty Recipes. Let us know if you have any questions about this change.
3. New Bulk Converter UI
The bulk converter options were getting a little messy looking with all the different conversion options we now offer. So we made a couple design changes, and it's looking a lot better!
4. Captions Now Work Properly in Recipes
We saw an issue where captions on images inside recipes didn't display correctly. With this update we made image captions work properly within the recipe container.
