Back in 2011, Veronika made small shifts to eat healthier — more plants, more whole foods, less processed stuff. She felt better, had more energy, and realized food could change her life.

By 2015, that spark turned into The Healthful Ideas, a blog where she started sharing her recipes with the world.

I recently sat down with Veronika to hear how her blog grew from a personal project into a thriving business. She shared the highs, the lows, and how Tasty Recipes and Nutrifox became the tools that helped her share recipes more easily and connect with her readers in a deeper way.

From Tumblr beginnings to WordPress success

Veronika first started sharing recipes on Tumblr.

It was fun and simple, but it wasn't the best fit for growing a food blog. Recipes were hard to follow, the site wasn’t customizable, and readers couldn’t do things like print or save recipes.

She realized if she wanted her blog to reach more people, she needed:

  • Her own website where readers can quickly find the recipes they’re looking for
  • Recipe cards with clear steps and ingredients instead just long bricks of text
  • Tools that take care of the tech so she can focus on cooking and her food photography

So in 2015, Veronika moved to WordPress and joined the Food Blogger Pro community. That's when The Healthful Ideas officially launched.

She learned how to structure posts, connect with other bloggers, and build a brand. At first, she used a different recipe plugin. It worked alright, but it wasn’t the long-term fix her blog needed.

Veronika's authentic recipes that changed along with her lifestyle

During those first few years, Veronika’s recipes were mostly raw vegan.

She whipped up colorful smoothie bowls, fresh salads, and plant-based snacks. Recipes like her Apricot Brazil Nut Energy Balls were simple and made with just a few whole ingredients.

But as her lifestyle shifted, her cooking did too. She began adding more variety, including a little dairy and fish, to better reflect how she was really eating.

Now her recipes focus on gluten-free and vegetarian meals that feel both healthy and doable.

Her Mediterranean Salmon Salad is a perfect example: fresh, vibrant, and balanced. Readers trust her because they know her recipes come from real life, not just posts created for the algorithm.

Veronika's big move and a break that tested her blog

In 2017, Veronika moved from the Czech Republic to Canada. With so much change happening, she stepped away from blogging.

Her traffic fell from 25,000 monthly pageviews to around 5,000. 😩

It was a hard season, but also a reminder that sometimes life pauses your blog. And that’s okay.

By 2020, she was settled into her new home ready to get back blogging. This time, with a better system in place.

Getting back to blogging with Tasty Recipes and Nutrifox

When she returned to blogging in 2020, Veronika wanted a fresh start.

She went back to the Food Blogger Pro community and realized her old recipe plugin wasn’t cutting it anymore. It was outdated, didn’t include nutrition info, and made it harder for readers to use her recipes.

That’s when she switched to Tasty Recipes, our WordPress recipe plugin that creates clean, easy-to-follow recipe cards. She also added Nutrifoxour tool that builds nutrition labels in seconds!

Together, these two plugins completely changed the way she blogged.

Her recipe-post workflow became simpler and saved her hours. Now she,

  1. Drafts recipes in Google Docs
  2. Copies and pastes the details into a Tasy Recipes recipe card
  3. Uses Nutrifox to generate nutrition instantly
  4. Publishes recipe cards with printing, scaling, cook mode options built right in

“It speeds everything up so much. I don’t have to go back later and add nutrition info. It’s all done as I enter the recipe.”

This process gave her more time to focus on cooking and food photography, while giving her readers exactly what they’d been asking for.

The Healthful Ideas traffic comeback with Tasty Recipes recipe cards

With her relaunch, Veronika also saw more traffic coming in.

Her recipes were finally showing up in Google search results, thanks to Tasty Recipes' built in recipe schema.

This is the special code inside Tasty Recipes that helps Google understand and feature recipes more prominently. The Jump to Recipe button also kept readers on her site longer instead of clicking away.

That growth opened new doors for her — making real money from her blog. 💰

Veronika was able to qualify for well-known ad networks like Mediavine and Raptive, which are known in the blogging world for helping creators earn money from their traffic.

Today, she has gained back her audience, and then some! And even more astoundingly, she has grown her blog into a full-time business that reaches thousands of readers every month.

Nutrifox helped her build trust and save hours

Veronika's health-conscious readers weren’t just asking for recipes. They wanted to know nutrition details too: protein, carbs, calories, even vitamins and minerals.

Before Nutrifox, Veronika didn’t have a way to give them accurate answers.

“If someone asked me how much protein was in a recipe, I’d have to Google it and kind of make something up in my head. There was no way it would be correct, and it took so much time. Nutrifox makes it instant.”

Now she can drop her recipe into Nutrifox, generate a nutrition label in seconds, and publish a recipe card that gives her readers everything they want.

Nutrifox saves hours of extra work, and her readers feel more confident cooking her recipes knowing the nutrition info is accurate.

Looking ahead: Veronika’s advice for fellow food bloggers

Today, Veronika works full time on her blog, The Healthful Ideas.

She’s focused on growing through email, Pinterest, and SEO. She’s also experimenting with Instagram Reels, though food photography will always be her favorite part of the process.

As her blog has evolved over the years, her mission has stayed the same: to share recipes that reflect her real life, not just food trends.

Her journey is a reminder that blogs don’t have to be perfect from the start. She began on Tumblr, paused for a few years, and still managed to build a successful food blog business.

What made the difference? Her authenticity, her photography, and the right tools.
