Today, we’ve got a short and sweet post for you around the missing field: “url” warning for Guided Recipes in either your Google Search Console or the Google Rich Results Test.

What is Google looking for with this missing field: “url” warning?

Similar to the handy jump to recipe buttons, you can add anchor links to recipe instruction steps so that users can quickly skip over to whichever step they’d like using their smart home device. ? These anchor links to the steps are those missing urls. So if you were baking a cake, for example, and you just wanted to skip to the “Decoration” portion, the anchor link would take you right there.

Luckily, Tasty Recipes automatically adds these links to your instruction step, so there's nothing you need to do to resolve this error! ? It doesn't get any easier than that, right?

You may have warnings you need to resolve on your site. If that's the case, you can validate the fix for these warning in your Google Search Console by following these steps:

  1. Login to your Google Search Console account.
  2. Navigate to the error in the Enhancements Reports. In this example, it was a ‘Guided Recipes’ error, so we’ll open up the Guided Recipes report.
  3. Select your error from the Details list. For this example, the error was Missing field “url.”
  4. Validate the fix.
