Rich Pins are special types of pins on Pinterest that contain additional information about the page content. Of interest here are recipe Rich Pins, which contain ingredient information and a recipe description. You can see an example of a Rich Pin for the Pinch of Yum website here.
Tasty Recipes includes all the markup your recipes need for Rich Pins on Pinterest. That means that you don't have to add anything extra to your recipes in order for Rich Pins to work.
You do, however, need to submit your site for Rich Pin validation in order for Pinterest to start showing Rich Pins for your site.
-
Go to the Rich Pin Validator: https://developers.pinterest.com/tools/url-debugger/
-
Paste a URL for a recipe on your website into the field at the bottom and click “Validate.”
-
Once the markup has been validated, click “Apply Now” to apply to have Rich Pins appear for your website URLs.
Troubleshooting
Make sure you are submitting a valid URL that has a Tasty Recipe on the page. If there is no recipe on the page, the validation will fail.
If the validator says it can't access your website, contact your host to see if they can help resolve the issue. This is a problem with the Pinterest bot being able to access your site.
If the validator specifically mentions an issue with the markup, feel free to contact us to ask about it.
