Here’s What’s New in Tasty Roundups 2.0

A screen shot showing what curated content with Tasty Roundups looked like in WordPress before it's newest update, and what it looks like now - with Tasty Roundups 2.0.

The old Tasty Roundups made it easy to pull together roundups of your content.

You could add internal links, and it would pull the image, title, and description for you. But changing the style of the layouts, images, and links? Time consuming and just not so simple.

And adding external links? A total headache. 🤕 Manually uploading images, typing titles, and descriptions for every single link? It was a lot of extra work, and it didn’t always look great.

But Tasty Roundups 2.0 fixes all that by giving you an improved WordPress list plugin with…

🔥 More Styling Options (that are actually fun to use!)

Tweak layouts, image shapes, and positions to fit your blog’s vibe. Want round images? Done. Prefer square thumbnails? No problem. You’re in control!

How to update your curated content to Tasty Roundups 2.0

When you update to Tasty Roundups 2.0, you’ll get all the new features right away. But here’s the important part:

You must update all your current roundups to the new version within the next 6 months.

Why? Because after 6 months, the old roundups (called Roundups Legacy) will stop working. And you don’t want broken roundups on your blog. And we know some of you have tons of roundups!

So, even though you have time to update, don’t wait. Your readers will love the new look, and so will you! ❤️

Don’t worry, though. Updating is easy, and I’ll guide you through it step by step. Let’s make sure your roundups are looking their best and working perfectly with Tasty Roundups 2.0.

1. Go to your roundup article

Open the piece of content with the roundup you want to update.

I'll start with this example, My Favorite Weekend Camping Recipes. When you open it, the old roundup will look something like this.👇

2. Add the new Tasty Roundups block

Click [+] or type /Tasty Roundup into the WordPress editor to find the new Tasty Roundups 2.0 block.

You’ll see two options pop up:

  • Tasty Roundup: This is the new Tasty Roundups 2.0 block. Choose this one!
  • Tasty Roundup (Legacy): This is the old version you’re switching from. Skip it and go for the new one.

Click Tasty Roundup, and the 2.0 block will pop right into your post.

It’s ready to go! So now it's time to start adding your links and styling it just how you like.

Here's a quick tip! Leave the old roundup block in your post for now.

It’s super helpful as a reference while you transfer your posts to the new block. Plus, it’s especially handy if your roundup has external links, like an expert roundup. You can easily copy and paste those links over.

If they're internal links, start typing the title of your blog post into the search bar.

Tasty Roundups will instantly search your content library and give you a list of matching posts.

Click the content you're looking for, and Tasty Roundups 2.0 will automatically pull the image, title, and description for each link.

To add an external link, copy and paste it into the bar where you search for posts.

Tasty Roundups will fetch the title, image, and description for you as long as the website you’re linking to has the right code (like OpenGraph metadata) set up to allow this. If not, no worries. You can always upload an image and add the title and description manually!

And, don't forget to add in your external link settings. ⚙️

To do that, Click the pencil icon to Edit the link.

4. Style your roundup

⭐️ This is where Tasty Roundups 2.0 is super NEW and IMPROVED! ⭐️

Now, it's on the right-hand side of your WordPress post editor.

Layout, image, and position

Want your roundup to show in one column or two?

Use the layout slider to pick the exact number of columns you want, or type it in directly.

Choose between Square, Rounded, Circle, Cover, or Custom. Just so you know, the way these display will ultimately reflect the size of the featured image it's pulling from.

Then, you can also change the position of the images. They can display on the left, center, right, or alternate like you see in the example!

Roundups 2.0 gives you full control over how your link buttons look.

Style your button to look filled, an empty outline, or just clickable text leading to your link.

Content

Choose between whether Images, Descriptions, Buttons, or Numbers show up in your posts.

And, Roundups 2.0 includes recipe schema! So, if you're using our WordPress recipe plugin, Tasty Recipes, it'll also show your rating and comment counts for recipes! That way, people can see just how loved your recipes are.

💡 Remember, if you're pulling an external link, whether or not the image comes in depends on if that website has the right code set up on their side.

5. Delete the old roundup block and save your changes

Take one last look at your new roundup before deleting the old one, just to be sure everything’s good to go! Then, get rid of the old stuff:

Scroll down to the old Tasty Roundups (Legacy) block in your post, click it, and delete it.

Once the old block is out of the way, hit Save or Publish to save your changes.

That’s it. You’re all set! 🎉

Your new roundup is live, looking amazing, and totally in sync with your blog’s style. Best of all, it’s ready to catch your target audience's attention and keep everything running smoothly with all the awesome new features in Tasty Roundups 2.0!
