Getting Started with Tasty Recipes Lite

How to Download and Install the Tasty Recipes Lite Plugin

Before you dive into customizing your recipe cards, you’ll need to install the Tasty Recipes Lite plugin on your WordPress site.

First, log in to your WordPress dashboard and head over to Plugins → Add New. In the search bar, type “Tasty Recipes Lite” and hit Enter. Once the plugin shows up in the search results, click Install Now next to it. After installation, click Activate to get the plugin up and running.

Once you’ve activated the plugin, you’re ready to start customizing your recipe cards. Simply log into your WordPress dashboard, and in the sidebar, go to WP Tasty → Tasty Recipes Lite.

From here, you’ll be able to explore the various settings and customization options for your recipe cards.

After you've uploaded the Tasty Recipes Lite plugin to your site, the next step is navigating to the plugin settings.

Log into your WordPress dashboard. Then, navigate to WP Tasty → Tasty Recipes Lite.

From here, you'll see several options in the navigation panel at the top of the page:

Design Tab

From the Design tab, easily select the Tasty Recipe card template you would like to use. Tasty Recipes Lite includes 3 templates (Default, Simple, and Snap) to get you started.

Here, you can easily customize things like:

  • The color of your recipe text and star rating color
  • The background color of your recipe card
  • Nutrifox customers can choose how to display their nutritional data!

However, the Social Footer feature is only included in the Pro version of Tasty Recipes.

Settings Tab

In the Quick Links section, you'll find several options for adding links to the top of your recipe posts.

You can find more information on Quick Links here: How do I activate the Jump/Print Recipe buttons?

The Jump to Recipe and Print Recipe links help your readers navigate your content more easily and print your recipes for offline use.

You can personalize which buttons show in the recipe card.

Note: Some advanced quick link options, like displaying your links as buttons, are available in the Pro version of Tasty Recipes.

This setting allows you to set a default link to a bio page about the author. The default author link will appear on all recipe cards by default, but you can customize or change it for individual recipes if needed.

More information on how to enable this feature and override it when needed (guest posts, multiple authors, etc.) can be found in this article:
How do I use the Author Link functionality?

Tasty Recipes Lite focuses on the core recipe functionality you need to get started. Additional settings like unit conversion, recipe scaling, cook mode, ingredient links, and social sharing options are available when you upgrade to the Pro version of Tasty Recipes.

Converters Tab

In the Converters tab, you'll find the Recipe Converter options for bulk recipe conversions from other recipe plugins. Before you proceed, we highly recommend the following steps to ensure your existing recipe content is preserved:

Once you've backed up your database, converted a few recipes, and are happy with the results, you're ready to batch!

Creating Your First Recipe

When you're ready to add a recipe to your post, you'll be able to:

  • Organize your ingredients and instructions into different groups for complex recipes
  • Add cooking times, serving sizes, and difficulty levels
  • Include photos and videos to make your recipes more engaging
